Filipinos at Disneyland: A Weekend of Fun and Community

April 2024, California - Disney Kababayan, an organization under SoCal Filipinos hosted another successful Filipino Weekend at Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, California. The weekend-long event spanned from April 19 to April 21, 2024,. The purpose of the event was to gather Filipino-Americans in California and enjoy a great weekend with the community through activities in Disneyland.
The first day was a welcome reception held offsite from the Disneyland Resort. The welcome reception featured the one and only DJ Icy Ice, a legendary member of the Beat Junkies. The first day was for everyone to get acquainted with one another before the main events.
The second day was held in the Disneyland Resort. It consisted of activities such as a scavenger hunt, Small World ride takeover, photo-op in front of the main castle, magic happens parade, and a Main Street takeover in front of Carnation. For the last day, the participants played Bingo, took over Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters Ride, took photos in World of Color Esplanade, and took over Disney Animation.
Disney Kababayan also provided prizes for the scavenger hunt and bingo winners to encourage everyone to join. The prizes include an art piece by Nilo Jones, $175 Gift Certificate to iSkin Med Spa, a Chiropractor session from Dr. Donovan Smolich, San Miguel Beer Tower, an Enchanted Escape Pin from Blacklot Magic, and Philippines-inspired ear headbands. Plus many other prizes were given throughout the weekend. Disney Kababayan thanked their sponsors that made the activity and prizes possible, among the sponsors include Ca Care Association.
To ensure everyone has a place to stay during the weekend-long adventure, Disney Kababayan made sure to prepare two official hotels - Hyatt Place and Cortana Inn & Suites for the families to book their stay in.
The efforts of Disney Kababayan to gather Filipino-Americans and help create a community among them through fun was a success with hundreds of people attending the event. D*Kababayan already announced that the next Filipino Weekend will be on April 25-27, 2025.
