Empowering Filipinos in Care: A Successful Webinar

Empowering Filipinos in Care webinar

It's a wrap for Ca Care Association and Philippine Consulate General’s “Empowering Filipinos in Care” webinar series. The first webinar was held on July 13, 2023 - Empowering Filipino Business Owners, and the second on July 27, 2023 - Empowering Fiipino Migrant Workers. Both webinars were a success with over a hundred plus participants. “Empowering Filipinos in Care” is designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Filipinos in the care industry. Our purpose is clear: to provide crucial support, shed light on labor rights, and empower those who play a vital role in the care industry.

Not only did the participants get to listen to representatives from Ca Care and PCG, but they also got to listen to representatives from the Department of Labor and Atty. Marlon Baldomero to further discuss subjects that will help Filipino workers and business owners. People showed a high interest in the webinar with over 156 tickets sold on July 13, and 179 sold on July 27.

Behind the success of the webinar, there were also challenges that came along the way during its preparation. One, in particular, stood out to Ca Care Association’s President Mark Alipio.

One of the biggest challenges was identifying the topics, considering when we talk about immigration or labor in general, there are a lot of factors that can be a recipe for disaster for employers and employees.” Recalled Mark Alipio. Thankfully the panel was able to balance out the information and could cover enough of the topics needed to hear by the participants.

There are also future plans of collaboration to further the cause of empowering caregivers and business owners. One of the key focus right now is emergency preparedness, Mark Alipio said that we want to make sure business owners and direct care workers have the tools to be prepared for natural disasters. Another collaboration that they are trying to push through is the commencement of in-person caregiver training focused on increasing the support in Ca Care’s KAPWA caregiver program.

The participants also showed great interest in the topics, the webinar had a high engagement rate and several questions were asked to the panel.

“We encouraged participants and non-participants to reach out if they have any questions because we are connected to the Department of Labor and we can get them the support that they need. “ said Mark Alipio

The “Empowering Filipinos in Care” two-series webinar is just one in many upcoming actions and programs that will be made for caregivers and business owners. We thank everyone for their support and participation in the webinar and we hope to see you in more of our events.
